Math Adventure was started by a geeky dad with a crazy idea - what if math could be fun?
That smart, audacious guy, David Garber (on the left), had experienced the nerdy excitement of puzzle culture at Microsoft for years. He wanted to develop something that could bring the thrill of team-based puzzle-solving to kids, while also immersing them in a theatrical experience. And so Math Adventure was born in 2007 at Somerset Elementary School in Bellevue, Washington.
Our staff is a unique mix, just like our events: we're math nerds, theater geeks, software engineers and programmers, web junkies, and educators. We love solving and crafting puzzles. But we all have one thing in common: we're passionate about changing the emotional connection that kids and parents have to math. We've seen what this event can do for the kids who attend. We're in.
And so we hope you are, too. With this new school year, we theater/math nerds have mounted a new version of an old favorite, The School of Magic. We hope to be coming to a school near you, Seattle. If you'd like that too, check our ever-expanding list of scheduled schools. If yours isn't on it yet, email us and tell us where to go next!
